A River's Desert Current

The Desert is River’s current

moving me forward

and towards

Without even a paddle as guiding star,

Violent waves

washing me through

Dried winding tributaries,

pulling this body into drenched desert destiny.

Is Destiny even awake when I arrive —

wild, parched, freely faltered on shore?

Or is it still me,

Desert River,

without even a paddle.

But complete

with nature's knowing

of swept surrender

only by Arid Water.

All else settling

and darkening

into undercurrents of Before Now,

becoming worn glimmering gifts

of Soaked Sand,

Roasted River,

and next Desert's Destiny.
