MEETING THE MOMENT

Quote: “I want to be moving at the pace of the land, the pace of the weather, the pace of circadian rhythm.”

There can be moments in our lives when we dissolve societal expectation and return to our feelings and who we authentically are. In chapter 8, Meeting the Moment, I discuss a time in my life where I went through a physical trauma, and was held by a grandmother who rocked me into remembering the sacredness of Earth and my own inner feminine and authentic expression.

You will also hear from brontë valez, artist, filmmaker, and founder of Lead to Life, a trans - local collective led by black diasporic and queer artists, healers, and ecologists that bridges racial and environmental justice through ceremony and art practice. In this interview, bronte shares their personal story of continual inner decomposition, and transmuting personal and ancestral pain into creativity. They beautifully and powerfully express their own journey of both tending land where they inhabit as well as the tending of their own inner landscape in order to meet this moment of greater collective change and weather. brontë intention of meeting an inner monster, and deepening their relationship with Earth, has also ignited their personal source of fire, alchemy, and creativity.

brontë ends the podcast with a prayer for people to love darkness, the mystery, and the unknown, both inner and outer, when meeting this unprecedented ecological moment in time.

When we feel empowered to connect with our deep well of creativity through being affirmed and nurtured by Earth and community, our gifts can be offerings to our ancestors and to Mother Earth.

Each episode ends with a Root Awareness meditation.
